8/21/2024 - SPOTLIGHT: BCMUD team fixes major water line broken by outside contractor

Dear Brushy Creek residents,

On Saturday morning, Aug. 17, we dealt with an unexpected incident that affected two BCMUD neighborhoods. An external contractor conducting infrastructure upgrades inadvertently damaged a BCMUD water line on Pasada Lane in Sendero Springs. The incident necessitated the issuance of a boil water notice for the neighborhoods of Brushy Creek North and Sendero Springs.

We want to recognize our dedicated BCMUD team members who responded swiftly to the situation and truly exemplify The Brushy Creek Life. Members of the Public Works Department worked tirelessly to repair the damaged line and restored water services by 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. Their professionalism and commitment were truly commendable. The BCMUD Customer Service team also played a crucial role in addressing residents’ questions and concerns promptly and effectively.

Several other team members from the Water Treatment Facility and utility staff spent considerable time over the weekend issuing and rescinding the limited boil water notice, flushing the system, and taking required bacteriological samples.

“Brushy Creek MUD is fortunate to have exemplary employees across all departments, and the Public Works and Customer Service teams are no exception,” said BCMUD Utility Systems Manager Bill Carr. “They are all professionals and can always be counted on whenever emergencies or difficult situations arise in the District.”

Once we confirmed the water’s safety, BCMUD rescinded the boil water notice on Monday morning, Aug. 19. We understand the frustration that comes with unexpected disruptions in essential services, and we are incredibly proud of our team members for their swift and proficient handling of the situation.

As always, the well-being and satisfaction of our residents remain our top priority. We are committed to continuously improving our processes and services to ensure that incidents like this are minimized in the future.

We sincerely thank you for your understanding and cooperation throughout this incident. Your resilience and support make our community exceptional and exhibit The Brushy Creek Life.
